advertising and other stuff…

Hi dearest mothers,
today I need to speak of business for a second…please bear with me ;o) As you know, for many years I have been producing free comics and sending them out into the world. I pretend like it’s a public service, but I would likely make them even if no one were paying attention ;o), but it would be nice for them to at least pay for themselves. Paper, ink, internet, etc. And perhaps this mama’s time too (I can dream can’t I?) So a while back I added advertising, because hey, you guys don’t have a lot of money, you’re feeding your own family (thank the all powerful breast that breastmilk is free, huh?) you don’t need to worry about supporting me. So there’s advertising all over this site and thecowgoddess.com now. if you’d like to help, you can always click through to see what they’re selling, The Earth Justice Network has bought a months worth of advertising at a flat rate hoping you’ll take a gander at their videos, they can tell how many of us click-through (so far less than 20, alas). Zolowear paid me for their space with slings, beautiful slings. The google ads are pay-by-the-click so visiting the sites brings me direct money – so far about $10 a month. My dream is to crank that up to $40,000 like that woman on Oprah the other day. of course, please don’t give yourself click-induced arthritis on my account. it would take a lot of clicking to make that much moolah!

anyway, just wanted to take a moment to thank my sponsors. and remind you that they’re there. And hey, if you own a business then how about buying some ad space? reach the smartest women and happiest babies on the planet!

xox,
Heather

ps. also, I restored a bunch of old comics from 2004, that were poorly scanned from the beginning, it might be hard to notice, but man, they’re pretty now. Spend some time, marvel at their loveliness. It’s just one of the ways I give and give, hee hee. Starbucks is one of them. Enjoy!

pss. I’d forgotten about ‘the chin’ it’s so sweet!

I just clicked through to a Google Ad about the OB/GYNs at some medical center in Boston, just because I thought the irony of their ad appearing on the blog of a homebirth goddess was too delicious. Now they can pay for the privilege too!

  • Your recent comic reminds me of the end-of-nursing ritual I share with my 2.5 year old boy; sometimes, when I have stuff to do & I set a time limit, I encourage him getting up by saying “whew! That was good nursey, huh? High five!” & he feels positively about ending for awhile.

click click click click click click click click click click click click click click……

  • Just did a little bit of “clicking.” Thanks for the reminder to “notice” sidebar ads and sponsoring companies. Sometimes there are some real treasures to be found along the sidebars…

Doing some clicking as a little thank you for sharing your amazingness :-) Only wish I could do more, but hopefully a lot more people will be clicking too!

  • that’s the spirit megan! And thanks everyone, I appreciate it!

    xox, Heather

  • Of course there’s some not such treasures over there with google ads. This one might be one you’d consider blocking…. http://www.sleepsense.net (I believe you can choose specific sites to not have advertising from!)

  • I actually contacted you a little while ago about an awesome mama / lactation consultant with a small Nursing Mother Supplies business. I’m running her affiliate program. But you were pregnant at the time so even if it made it through your filter, you may have been too busy. Maybe it would work for you? And at least you are supporting another mama, too! If it doesn’t work, you can always take it down.

If you think it is worth a try, let me know and I will get you the info and a coupon code for your readers.

And I can get you in touch with her personally. She’s very dedicated to helping moms breastfeed!

  • Hey Heather,

Email me if you would. I’m wondering if I can afford to advertise on your site. =)
