Kristin, you're lucky. You have the resources to get human milk (which is not always available locally, cannot be obtained with state aid except in very rare cases, and is at least 4x more expensive than formula if you're paying the shipment for "donated" milk). You have financial resources for herbs (and a baby who doesn't projectile vomit when you take them) and the financial resources to get domperidone (which, again, cannot be procured with state assistance in most cases). It's fantastic that you're doing what you do. Seriously. You've gone out of your way, invested your time and money, and that's amazing, impressive, and commendable. I don't doubt that you give a crap.
..but it's nothing short of foolish to assume that all mothers with IGT can do what you did, because not everyone has all of your resources. It is nearly impossible for many of those mothers with to avoid formula. Sure, 2% doesn't sound like much, but when 4,000,000+ babies are born in the US every year, it's a lot.

I'm not saying this to back up formula companies. I hate them, too. I'm saying this to point out that every single lactating mother who is enraged by the formula companies needs to do one thing, and one thing only. DONATE MILK. It is the only way to hurt their bottom lines. It is the only way to help all of the mothers that would LOVE to feed their babies breastmilk but can't. Complaining doesn't do a thing. You can really and truly help mothers and hurt formula companies. PLEASE, just do it. Even if it's just one bottle.
