They had to lay eyes on me and the baby, but our city (Baltimore) has a traveling nurse practitioner that does home visits -- think "house call" rather than "inspection." No examination, I dicatated answers and they filled out the papers for me as I nursed, I signed off and I got everything back in the mail within the month. An enlightened approach!
