Okay, so I’ve told you how awesome Ean is, and I can’t remember if I told you that his first official smile was on day 8. For his daddy. Which is awesome. He’s good at sharing the love.
He also has his first cold (because his sisters are good at sharing the love too) and I’ve moved through all the stages: anger, despair, the kind of panic that makes your knees weak. Over a sniffle. Where the hell is my spine? Ma Ingalls would be horrified. He’s on the mend though, and I can look on it all as a immunological building exercise. Phew.
I’m still hanging at home a lot, the food chain that friends set up for me is pretty much over, the baby is one month old, and it’s starting to look a little unseemly how much I’m wallowing around in baby newness. Tomorrow, I’ll go buy toilet paper, I promise. My friend Mara (gurumama) told me that once when asked by her husband (the aspiring director who made the zoop movie for me- go visit his channel http://www.youtube.com/user/filmindie and check out his movies and subscribe, it will make his day;o) what she had accomplished that day, she told him that she had “made ice”. I wish I could say that I’ve done that much…yesterday my refrigerator broke! Placentas (that’s right, there’s two still!) spoiling as we speak. I guess I could go get a shovel out and start diggin’ the holes or…or stare deeply into this baby’s eyes. I guess you know which I pick!
Love, Heather

That SMILE and EYE LOCK and all those little things that just well.. If only Ean could remember this. If only he could feel that love you have for him at all times for his entire life. Doesn’t that seem to be what being alive is really supposed to feel like?
Even when we finally get out to buy toilet paper.
Just wait until he crawls across the kitchen to climb up your pants and smile at you!
My day changed completely yesterday when my 4-y-o told me that, “We’re best friends, Mommy!” Isn’t it amazing the little gifts our children give us every day?
TOTALLY!! We’re on our fifth, and I swear, the babymoon just gets longer and longer. She’s seven months old and I still have to tear myself away to do laundry!
aaaaahhh. how wonderful. toilet paper… who needs it. i say stay home and gaze at our wee babe.
plus you have made comics, so your doing something other then just gazing at Ean. heehee
i sure miss new babies. i need another baby.

Every single baby I’ve known has had a ‘cold’ in the first three weeks. I really don’t think they are colds, just the body getting rid of excess muscus and crap from it’s previous environment
You could join the growing trend of ‘family cloth’ users….
