For some reason, I’m feeling inspired by the multitude of people who have been pushing themselves to accomplish great things. These are a few of them:
Crossing the ocean using muscle and paddleboard
Zac Sunderland
Sister Madonna Buder
Oh, and my dh who paddled from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes Peninsula this weekend, 22 miles in about 5 hours ;o)
There’s nothing like watching other people exercise ;o)

I think women giving birth is a pretty amazing feat too. Pity it happens thousands of times a day so people don’t get very excited.
Well. YOU inspire ME. Go Hathor. I only have two kids and feel like I am running a marathon everyday so you’re like SuperMom in my book. Just sayin’….
Big Hugs

Not completely on topic for inspirations, but I thought you might be interested in the ICAN webinar on how to prevent c-sections; http://ican-online.org/none/ican-birth-class-cesarean-prevention
(if you’ve already known about it, I apologize)
I feel like Mama in the comic – I wonder how people can accomplish all this stuff when I can barely keep up with the laundry! But I have to remind myself my kids are my number one priority when I’m not at work so other things can just wait!
Julinda, me too! I figure ONE day they’ll get it! Meanwhile while the house is trashed my kids are healthier then most that come from “spotless” homes, hmm……….. Repeat after me I am a mommy not a dictator, I did not have children to become one either!
I’m impressed and inspired… maybe tomorrow my hair will get combed and I’ll actually have my shirt in place MOST of the day! heeheehee
Hi! I just wanted to let you know there is an error in your RSS feed, if you didn’t know already. The “&” in “muscle & paddleboard” is throwing it off for some reason. I wonder if you just type the word “and” out if it’ll work?
I love your blog and didn’t realize it hadn’t been downloading – thought you just hadn’t updated for awhile!

I’ve never commented before, though I’ve read for months and your comics (both Mama and Hathor) have been an inspiration to me (21 year old first time mama to an 18-month-old). When I first discovered Hathor I couldn’t contain the excitement that “someone thinks what I think and they’re speaking out about it like this!” I was able to realize that there was nothing wrong with the way I felt I should treat my baby and there was no reason to continue questioning myself when others made “suggestions”.
Your sarcasm, your reactive personality, I can totally relate because it’s exactly me:)
Anyway, I found this and thought of you (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23026396). All of these things are beautiful, handmade, only $5! No I didn’t make them or even know who did, I just love them and it’s Hathor after all.
Thanks for everything!
Baby can’t walk is a reason not to go on a long walk?? Seriously? That’s not the Mama way! Break out the wrap! Support that baby’s weight on both shoulders and go for it!
Now, “it’s frickin’ hot out” that’s a reason not to go on a long walk. =D
I’m still going backpacking in a few weeks anyway though. Last time she nursed 90% of the hike, including some of the canyons.
Oh, almost forgot! Remember, with a newborn a “long” walk is like a mile.
Sometimes that link I posted works (like yesterday) and sometimes not (like now).
Here’s a different way…I hope…

hubby always asks “what did you do today?” hummm, everyone is still alive and basically clean. it was a good day. if you are really lucky, there might be dinner.
Hee hee, by long walk I meant across America, perhaps. My dream is to walk across England…I can totally do it with a baby in a sling, I did 5 miles the other morning, but I think I’ll wait and do a l-o-o-o-ng walk when I’m bored in a few years ;o)
Whew! Glad to know you’re still you!

oh heather, thank you for “do hard things, yes”!
We’re about to leave on our round the world trip.. but with our kids. =) And hey, since Aurora was born *on* the boat, that gives her a leg up in the “youngest kid to…” contests. =)
Hi Laureen,
wow, I want to hear more! When do you leave?
xox,
Heather
