Hi all,
I have amassed quite a collection of slings over the years, and love them all in different ways, but wanted to share some photos with you of me and my baby in our slings (full disclosure: these slings are gifts from my sponsors;o)
- Me in My Zolo sling, in the garden…
- me in my UpMama! sling, in the garden…
- Me in my UpMama! sling in the backyard…
- Me in a Zolo wear sling in the backyard…
- me in a Zolo wear silk sling that is about 4 years old and well worn…
- Baby suckin’ toes in a Zolo wear sling in the kitchen…
Here’s where you can see more beautiful slings…
Zolo Wear and UpMama!
both of these sling makers have been sponsors of thecowgoddess.com and mama-is.com and so, if you buy a sling from them, make sure you tell them that Heather sent you!

oh my, your little one is getting so big, and so personable! (I love the sucking toes thing. It’s hilarious. I especially like it when babies manage to keep one foot in their mouth, while they smile and flirt with passerby…)
Do you prefer ring slings, or do you wrap, too? I find when the little one gets a certain size, wraps are just the way to go. Otherwise my shoulders start to ache.
So cute–sounds like my little boy.
Love the pics. Zolowear is one of my faves and I just tried & reviewed Upmama, too, and loved it.
@Ms. Krieger
I know you weren’t asking *me* but I’m a buttinski like that…can you have someone double check your sling for you? I wear my son (born over 10 lbs and now about 24 lbs) in a ring sling and wore my daughter in a ring sling until she was 18 months’…and I’ve had no additional pain from wearing them this way. But if I am slightly off on the shoulder or back fabric or ring position, it can hurt.
I liked wraps best for extended wear from about 2-6 months…especially if baby would fall asleep. But none of mine will fall asleep when out and about best 6 months! So, I find the up, down, up, down easier in a sling or pouch or a Mei Tai.
Is that the Florida weave you’re doing with your tomatoes? We tried that for the first time this year, and we are having a hard time with it.
hehe, speaking of sponsors, go visit the Motherwear Blog & scroll down to Aug. 19th! This doc is AWESOME & there’s links to the YOUTUBE site for the full lecture! 700+ babies in the U.S. a year that are full term that din’t have to die! Not to mention she BASHES the sponsors, lol, but is a nice gal! YOUR sponsors I like MUCH more, TYVM! Poot “Larry” I hope he finds a new job soon!
Not to mention she posted another MAMA cartoon, lol! Great Choice!
looking good, mama! awesome slings and CUTE BABY!!! love your house-congrats on everything!
@Candace – Thanks for the advice, I’ll get somebody to spot my sling position! I still wear my baby in the sling on my hip sometimes (it’s a fun way to chat as we stroll around, etc.) But when I really want to get around, do stuff (garden, clean, market, hike) wrapping her onto my back is preferable.
There is a great article on http://www.thebabywearer.com with pictures of how to wear a ring sling, AND how NOT to wear it; I found it really helpful to see the wrong ways too.
And I do have to comment, in the UpMama picture in the top row—it’s not pulled all the way to his knees and he looks like he can just straighten out at any moment.
I LOVE the toe sucking!
heh, he’s a couple of months younger than my girls and he’s still, like, twice their size! lol
When I posted the pictures, I KNEW I was going to get flak about baby’s position, but I chose them because I looked good, something that’s important at my ripe ol’ age. ;o) I wrote a whole disclaimer, that I wasn’t modeling HOW to wear a sling, that I did 5 sling changes in a few minutes with a rapidly losing interest photographer and baby, and that because I wear them ‘professionally’ ;o) I might wear the baby in lots of ways that you shouldn’t try at home. Hee hee. Then I removed the disclaimer, because I thought it might call attention to the baby’s position, and I figured you guys wouldn’t really notice. Sigh, hee hee, it took you about 10 minutes!
I DO know how to carry a baby and baby won’t fall out, I promise!

Heather
YOU….look UGLY?…NAH, MAybe when you’re 120!
How do you manage to be “ripe”, have a handful of kiddos, and still look so fabulous?!
I’m 24 and only have 2 children, but often look like the walking dead, lol. My first daughter took after daddy and slept so long and well it was truly kinda scary. Now our 2nd one (17 months) is making up for it by seemingly never sleeping, lol. She’s got about twice as much energy as her sister, and does it on less sleep… if only I had that magical power myself
Do you like / have you tried a mei tai or onbuhimo? I have an onbu I could send you…
Mei Tai? GREAT for grilling or using the over with a toddler. Also for gardening, lol!
oven, dang laptop, I meant using the oven, sheesh, also good for typing with toddlers, lol
