The Zoops!

Sick, the bad way.

Dear Mamas,
this is a response comic of sorts to a comment left on my blog recently. Don’t worry, stupid comments don’t get through my ‘idiot filter 2.0′ which is the delete button and my middle finger. Enjoy!

Love,
Heather

Mama Is Feeling Contest-y! (first time ever)

Hi all,
This here is the very first ever in all time Contest on my blog! Welcome! The fabulous prize is a Hand-Knitted Breastfeeding Advocacy Cloth from The Red Rose Boutique. Isn’t that the coolest? If you win the cloth you’ll get it sent directly to your house if you’re in the US or Canada, if you’re in the rest of the world I’ll have to ask you for shipping. Please forgive.

Here’s the contest!

Imagine you want to embroider a quote or motto or pithy saying or song lyric or love poem or activist propaganda or pep talk and hang it on your kitchen wall in a fabulous frame so that it will inspire you first thing every morning and make you happy or thoughtful or energized or brave all the day long. Something you want to remember. What would you embroider?

Leave your answer in the comments below, by Sunday this week (that’s June 27th if you have a calendar!)
I’ll pick my favorite (totally subjective, in every way) and announce it next Monday. If you would like to leave your answer without being considered for the contest then just mention that in your comment, and I won’t consider you for the prize. (I know, I know, competition isn’t all it’s cracked up to be ;o)

Ask any questions below too! and please spread this around!

Distract-a-ta-tas #2!

Dear Mamas (and Papas too),
I have declared this week CRAFT week, or really VERY CRAFTY week. The week started with the last comic, Distract-a-ta-tas, but I didn’t have time to really announce it so it’s kind of starting now. And because my Mother-In-Law is coming today (Hi! Suzanne! – she reads my blog ;o) and she’s sleeping in the office/guest room, and I like to have some wine with her in the evenings and what not and so forth, the next few comics may be slow in coming. though they may not. Because grandma is going to be here and maybe I’ll have all the time in the world! So either VERY CRAFTY week starts now and lasts for 7 days give or take some, or VERY CRAFTY week started a few days ago and really it’s a whole month. And maybe that’s better anyway. I’m a mom, forgive me ;o)

There are some crafty folks advertising over on the left side-bar, Yay!!!!!! And thank you! Please visit their shops and buy something if you desire. If you know any crafty mamas who should join in the fun have them check out this page:
Very Crafty Mamas Read this! The advertising is cheap cheap cheap, the comics are all craft related, and I’ve got a new super fun one coming, jump on board, spread the word, please.

AND, the Red Rose Boutique, advertising over on the left side of my blog with the Breastfeeding Advocacy Cloths is giving me one to give away on this here blog. I have an idea, a contest of sorts. I’ll tell you about it in a day or two.

Herald of Summer

Hey all,
I’m gearing up for a week of fabulous comics that are all craft based and now I’ve come up with a plan…I’m going to offer advertising for all the craft-y mamas who have created things inspired by mama and then some. If you would like to showcase some nipple-hats, or if you’ve embroidered the above quote “it’s either annoying or a herald of summer, it’s up to you,” or a snarky breastfeeding cover that doesn’t really cover anything, then send me an email and we’ll set up a spot for you over on the left sidebar. It will only be $5 a week, $20 a month. Come on Mamas let’s start making some crafts!!!!

Like Breastmilk.

Dear Mamas and Papas,
I have been asked by Change.org to be a host to their new petition widget that you’ll see on the top right of my site. They will be feeding it with causes that most of us will be interested in, hopefully most of the time. I’m thrilled to have been chosen as a “leading parenting site” and am so grateful to have so many thoughtful and educated readers of my blog. Here’s how it works, if you see a cause there that you feel strongly about, please click on the link, read more, and sign the petition. I receive a dollar for every true, new signature. In case you think that might be just the cherry on top of the cake for me, that I’m out on my yacht with all the moolah I make already, here’s the truth about my free comics. I don’t make a living at them. Unless I was alone on an island in the south pacific and only needed a fistful of dollars to trade for chocolate and red wine with passing cruise ships. I make enough for that, possibly. So, visit the change.org links, if you love me and want to do what you can for me and the world. I appreciate it. And I love you too.

xox,
Heather
