It wasn’t an april fool’s joke, promise! His name is Ean Campbell (ancestor names) He surprised us by coming 3 days early (today was really his due date -also my anniversary of my first date with darling husband, just 21 years ago!) He was born on my father’s 65th birthday. March 31, 2009. 8:15 pm.
and now I’m enjoying the babymoon…he’s nursing like a champ (once I re-read how to breastfeed in the baby book, even pros forget the correct latch!) I’ll post birth story soon!

Heather

So happy for you Heather! He’s beautiful, and looks just like you. I bet the girls are all over him!! Beautiful Mommy and son pictures, too. Looking forward to the birth story!!
I’m so glad to see the top left picture, which makes it looks like a successful homebirth. WHAT a joy!!! I knew you would do it (from one HBer to another)!
So lovely to see a nursing pic, too.
I hope you’ll do a cartoon about the birthing process you experienced. That would be really neat, to me, I think. ^_^
Congrats!!!

And you kept your hair the whole way through!
Yay, it isn’t a joke! Congratulations, he’s darling!
YAY!!! Congrats!!!
The Portsmouth thing? Bizarre. TBH at least they breastfed the baby, I’d be more upset if they’d given it to another couple who’d then plugged it with formula milk.
I do worry about mums who are happy to allow their newborn to spend the night in a nursery though. No matter how tired I was I couldn’t bare the thought of my baby being so far away from me, and having no idea what the nurses or midwives were doing with it. Scary stuff.
“Sam” even more “bizarre” was that almost every other paper just said they were switched for 5 minutes & 1 got fed, NOT that the REST of the story! Turns out the other family was “High Risk” behaviorly and the hospital & docs probably didn’t know til this turned up, not to mention the staff issues! WOW I got the article from Fark & the thread is KILLER, turns out it HAS happened before but that neither woman was high risk, very funny reading though! We have formula allergies in My family so I flipped over formula, I could have dealt with the nursing but not from a “Baby-Mama” someone on Fark said it sounded like a Mel Brooks Movie, lol, “Mama” too much happens when you take a break, but you earned this one!!!!!
Congratulations!!!
He’s gorgeous! And I love the name!
congrats on the unassisted birth of your baby!!! i can’t wait to read about it in more detail, plus about your daughter’s birth. i’m due with my 3rd next month and just had a “misunderstanding” with my midwife. it’ll be my first homebirth…so i could use your empowering stories…
i am also emailing for permission to reprint a couple of your comics in my daughter’s preschool spring newsletter. check us out http://www.seedsofjoyvillage.org (waldorf, attachment parenting, neuroscience, etc.)
thanks!
Yay, welcome Ean!
nice! i knew we were preg at the same time but didnt know how close! i had mine on the 29th, and vba3c! your musings have been so inspirational to me for a few years now…… thank you for that “in your face support!” You’re exactly what i needed.
Congrats on your new babe!
Happy babymooning! He is beautiful!
I love babies buried in boobie!! He’s BEAUTIFUL! Congrats!!!
Congratulations!! I’m sooooo jealous. I miss having new nurslings at my breast!! What a high! Post an update when you can. Enjoy your babymoon!!
He’s darling!
Congratulations! =)
Unassisted! (I just read your birth story and wanted to comment, but couldn’t ON it, of course.) You are a better woman than me. I’m so glad it went well, if intense. I hope that my next baby decides to start his or her entrance on his or her own. So far I’ve only experience labor through natural induction methods.
ahwell I have more Faith in God this time around, so I’m sure it will be well (and better).
Yay! It was so awesome to read Ean’s birth story
Congrats Mama!
what a gorgeous little chubster! and you look euphoric! well done x

I absolutely adored your birth story! Woohoo!!
LOVED your birth story w/ illustrations! I am having a homebirth in August and I had my firstborn in the hospital, so it’s nice to know what I can expect. My daughter was 9 days late and I’m wondering if this baby might be late too. I think the surprise of going into labor is the best part.
Happy Babymoon!
I am crying tears of joy for you after reading your birth story. It was so similar to my baby boy’s birth, all of the feelings and memories came flooding back.
He is so perfect and you look so radiant!
Congrats to you and your family. Welcome to the world little man!
Congratulations Heather- I love the illustrations, especially how purple he is! (Our first baby pictures with this last one, we are holding a little grape!) Enjoy your babymoon!
Congratulations – I love your birth story – that’s a good looking kid!
I dig the door frame trick!
Just wanted to let you know I posted a link to your story/sites.

best,

Just stumbled on your blog, and it’s such a pleasure! Love the birth story of Ean. He looks wonderful and is so lucky to have such a strong and talented momma.
Also loved your review of the recent breastfeeding article. I didn’t say it as well myself. Can you illustrate all my opinions for me? Look forward to reading more!
I loved the illustrations on your birth story makes me wish I can draw so I can have such cool cartoons for my last birth. I love you walking around going nobody knows I am in labor so cool I did the same thing. I even went to womens night at my church after my water broke so I did not have to stay home and watch basketball on TV with my hubby:0
dear heather,
like the 2. but when the 2. was born, also in front of the kitchentable, me and my husband were alone. midwife came when she was already out, and we were laughing. best story in our life.
congrats to your sweet baby boy.
i love your birth comic! you made a great job.
if this is your 3. child, just letting you know: my 3. was special, too. very hard and fast(1,5 hours), because the baby girl came along with the bag of water and was pushing some water in front of her head ahead…this was aching. my midwife told me, most of the 3. children are special. but- thank goddess- born at home in front of the kitchentable
just to let you know: an european (austrian) book will be released in july 09:
