Too true, it drove me NUTS with my 1st baby, now I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Nice. My daughter has a nag that goes, “Mommy!!! I want you.” And it only comes when I’m really busy. I always answer, “I want you too.”

Of course that leads to, “NO, I want you to come here and….” but anyway. It is awesome being wanted.

Once my newborn son was crying and crying and he wouldn’t nurse.. bouncing walking slinging singing swaying.. nothing worked. Just one of those evenings. So I thought I’d try swaddling him and set him down to spread out a blanket. The second I set him down he stopped crying and became completely relaxed. (My daughter never did that.) He wanted me to leave him alone! Overstimulated or something. It was the strangest thing to me. Hasn’t happened since. He cries to be picked up. And yes I’m glad he does.

This is great. I know I became a lot more relaxed and parenting became a lot more fun when I realized that this is such a short time in his life, and isn’t it great that he feels so secure napping on me, being held, etc. Changing my perspective totally got rid of the stress of new motherhood (well almost – my husband’s out of town this weekend again and boy is it exhausting!).

  • I just had a baby a week ago, and I totally feel wanted all the time. My 2 year old wants me too. It is tiring, but nice.

Can we get this one as a single use PDF? It would be such a nice reminder to have around.

This came at such a good time for me, at 40 weeks pregnant with a two-and-a-half-year-old. It will be a great reminder in the coming weeks.

  • I love it. It’s all about perspective. What others see as an annoyance or an inconvenience, I see as a privilege.

  • Hi Ellen,
you can order any comic on my site as a single use, just buy the .99 single use pdf on my shopping page or the button here on the right. Then, write in the special instructions which comic you want. I’ll make the pdf and send you a link, usually within a day. (and if there isn’t anyplace to write the title, send me an email and let me know which comic you want…that should do it ;o)

I used to make the pdf ahead of time, but it takes a lot of time to do it that way and not all of them sell…

    Love,
    Heather

    thank you for asking!

It can be so exhausting being wanted all the time but now that my 2 1/2 yr old is done nursing and finding out how “fun” daddy is, I’m not wanted quite as much, it’s sad and leaves me feeling a little lost. But it’s all part of the growing up process and I wouldn’t change being her one & only for anything

This isn’t just about infants and toddlers either- my teenagers and my 8yo still “want me” all the time too! Although sometimes they want me to go away. ;)

  • Lisa B

It’s all perspective :) I believe that I am the center of my families universe and they reinforce that belief by circling around me at all times – heeheehee.

  • I was just reading this as my teething 6 month old was waking up for the 4th time in as many hours tonight. Thanks for helping remind me that I’m lucky to be able to be the one to soothe him.

  • I’ve been around a lot of first time mamas lately and I’ve been trying to hold my tongue. But then I have to think – I wish I had known this when I was a first time mama.
