The Zoops!

We’re moving this week, and more stuff…

Hi all,
Months ago I did a comic about my landlord being in foreclosure. Somehow he managed to file bankruptcy first and so we had a few months of reprieve, but yes this month we had another notice that the building would be auctioned. We’re really tired of waiting to see if we can stay or if we have to go, so we started looking around and found a really really great house. With a big yard! And 1.75 bathrooms! And it’s a $105 cheaper! So, this week, as I pack the entire house and start lugging stuff over, the comics will probably be sporadic at best, though as I’m at the end of the pregnancy I really really want to document it some more, we’ll see how it goes. I could, of course, probably find more time if I wasn’t spending so much time reading forums and loops. Note to self: stop spending so much time reading forums and loops! This means you!
I am a little sad about leaving our neighborhood, I credit the daily 3 mile walk (uphill all the way to the ocean, put your toes in, walk back home uphill all the way!) with how well I feel right now in this pregnancy. I swear, I wish someone had told me that I should exercise with the other three (If I was told, then maybe a little insistence would have been nice ;o) But the new house is only 3 miles east of here, so I could drive over and THEN take my walk, though that adds another step. So we’ll see how it goes. I am pretty inclined to not give a big poo poo because did I mention this yet? Big yard! 1.75 bathrooms! and it’s $105 cheaper! Aaaah, can’t wait. And hey, if I just MOVE all in one week and get it over with, then I’ll have a few more weeks to bask in the glory that is my pregnancy.

Baby, by the way, has taken on that alien aspect, whole body parts rolling and rockin’ under my skin. I love this part.

xox,
Heather

Okay, I’ll bite… how do you get 1.75 bathrooms? I’ve lived in a house with a “half bath” in addition to a full one, but how do you get 3/4 of a bathroom?

aaw what a blessing the new home will be for you! best wishes!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is reminded of aliens during that part of pregnancy! Right now, I can see him moving, but it’s just little bounces, no rolls yet. I haven’t seen an arm going across my belly yet or anything like that! But, I’ve still got around 12 weeks to go (give or take). In any case, we almost moved too, but it turns out the apartments I lived in suckered us into a 13 month lease instead of a 12 month lease, so instead of the lease being up May 1st, it’s up June 9th. But after that point, it’s month-to-month, so hopefully we’ll be BUYING a home by then!

Congrats on finding a great new place! Good luck on your move! Don’t overdo it though, OK?

Love the new comic! That was my main problem with maternity pants. So I just bought a pair of those stretchy soft cotton gaucho pants with the high waist. Covered my belly and looked great the whole pregnancy, and were so comfortable I usually fell asleep in them!

I did the same thing last pregnancy!!!!! Donuts, Coffee & the kids bus stop were all down hill, home was up! Wow I never knew going for a donut could be exercise!!!!!

I’m so glad to hear that you found a good place to live! I’m sure the kids will love the yard. No lifting big boxes for you, pregnant lady!

I had the same problem with most of the modern maternity pants. Who designs something that sits right on the highest point of the bubble? My solution was to find a sewing pattern for “panel pants” and just make them for myself.

i was wondering about that… if you had aready moved or ended up not having too.i am glad to hear about the place, it sounds great. hard to believe that some time in your life you would be excited about a toilet. hee hee.

I linked my “April” due date community (we’re due all the way from Marchish to Mayish) and they all agree. We HATE below-the-belly panels and gravity!

  • Congrats on finding a new place, Heather! We had to do the same thing in January. As much as I hate moving, and we have to pay MORE, not less for this house, I love it so much. May this move be beneficial to your family, and take it easy… I’ve moved during late pregnancy. Not fun!

    Hey :)

I had a dream a few nights ago that you did a comic where you had your baby! It was a boy, and you were holding him up and your girls were dancing around you saying “He’s here! He’s here!” How cool is that? … Oh, but in my dream you decided to name him “Albequerque”. Whatever. I won’t judge. ;)

Why can’t she lift boxes if she wants to?!!
She’s pregnant not decrepit. Exactly who do you think lifts the cast iron cooking pot filled with food and lots of water off the fire in most of the world and throughout history!!?

  • Wiffersnapper

Lori- Because she can hurt her back? Because she could send herself into early labor? Because I think that pregnant women should be respected and treated kindly, and people should help them to take care of themselves? Because I’ve been pregnant twice and moved FIVE TIMES, and I know that both are HARD work?

I was being cheerful and friendly- luckily, we’ve gone a little beyond hauling water in most of our country. Of course, Heather can do whatever she wants. No one would ever call an impending mother of four decrepit! But I hope that people are willing to help her. I also have great faith that she knows herself well enough to know when to take a break.

SO happy for you about the new house, Heather! BTW, I’m with Wiffersnapper on this one: do pace yourself and resist the impulse to try to do it all yourself or all at once. We your readers will all still be here when life calms down and you get more time to check in.:) You want *not* to be exhausted when Albuquerque arrives.
