I don’t get it. Transgender men are folks who are born with female body parts and identify as men – and perhaps transition to become men (with hormones or surgery). Those with ‘male genitalia’ and breasts are transgender/transsexual women.
I don’t mean to take away from whatever good cause they were protesting for… but if I were them, I’d be furious to not be arrested because of that reason… after all, they’re wanting to become women… and that should mean being treated AS WOMEN… right?
weird but true. Society considers you a dude if you have a weenie (even if you have boobs) & a gal if you don’t! Doesn’t seem to matter what the doctors think!
I DID throw a small hissy fit in a store once. Some cute dude was trying to flash a young nurse! Welcome to a beach state! That’s legal but then people get weirded out if they so much THINK I’m nursing for REAL! (*nak*)
You should have seen the suggestive tees the young girls made to gain attention for a breast cancer awareness event. The paper had no qualms putting in photos and talking about how clever and wonderful these young girls were for making T-shirts w/ big pink hands “holding” their breasts. No pictures of the mostly black pro-breastfeeding team in the paper (only saw them on a friend’s facebook).
And I just had this conversation with hubby the other day about how I hate the double standard of how men can go around topless, but its not socially acceptable for women to. Not that I want to mind you, as gravity and HH boobs aren’t the best of friends, :p but it would be nice to at least have the option.
And we’re told women have equal rights in our society. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! You can expose your breasts as long as you have an unexposed dick between your legs. Give us equal rights when it comes to our BODIES, not just our ability to perform jobs outside our home that make the rich richer.
Here’s another very telling story about the indecency of breasts: I saw a documentary on TV that was following a man undergoing gender reassignment surgery. (I think it was called Surgery 90210 or somthing like that) In close-up detail the audience saw the scalpel slice open the chest under the man’s areola. We saw him push a steel instrument inside, and use it to lift and separate the man’s skin from the chest wall. We saw him fold the silicone bag small and push it inside this hole, and we saw him begin to inject the fluid into the bag to make the appropriate cup size. But as soon as the bag was filled enough that it looked like a female breast – THEY BLURRED THE NIPPLE on the screen!
I think that most of these really abhorrent attitudes to the showing of female breasts, willies, and winkies is a desire to correlate any sexual desires with shame, and guilt in Western cultures. That really helps to sell goods.
In the late sixties there was an influx in Britain of stories from holiday makers in Sweden and Denmark, complaining about the outside kiosks which sold cigarettes, candy and porno magazines. The parents were having to fend off queries from their children about these indecent displays, which were often at a level with the children’s eyes.
I went there to question the judiciary, police and other interested parties why this was so. Their consensus was; the research into whether or not watching images on the public media influenced behaviour. The results so far, were ambiguous. So, in order to be safe they had decided that for the moment they would ban all public media from showing scenes of violence. Whereas scenes of love making would be unlikely to incur behaviour which was already innately biological, and would be adequately countered by education. Their sex education was already the most advanced in the world, and was very comprehensive.
Unwanted teen age pregnancy rates were minuscule compared to Britain and the States. As was their levels of violence. I was struck by how easy, and relaxed women were in the public places. Rape figures, and incidents of sexual assault were also low compared to my culture. I was most impressed. Of course these figures were partly obtained by their wealth being redistributed by extremely high levels of taxation on upper incomes. Something which would have been unacceptable in the States and Britain.
Hahaha!
In Ontario a woman can legally be topless in public (some ruling a few years ago related to equality when a woman was arrested for being topless), which really makes me wonder how people can possibly object to someone nursing when legally you can just plain take your top off!

Bahahahaha!
Totally Hilarious!
so did i word it wrongly paula? i thought transgender men meant men who were in the act of changing….hmmmm…let me research that one!
Paula was right, I worded it wrong, so I fixed it…enjoy! Thanks Paula!
Brilliant. I would have another baby just to breastfeed her with a distract-a-weenie attached.

I can’t even think of anything to comment – I’m pretty much speechless!
Here’s the article (thanks Heather!)

Note that the author used transgender men, which is the wrong way to use it as Paula pointed out!
xox,
Heather

Oh my goodness! I am so hilariously confused!! I love how life just refuses to be contained in our hierarchies and categories…

*dies laughing*
People are so convoluted!
Sheila, that IS telling!!! Perfect illustration of how ridiculous we are.
Wow, Sheila, wow! I’m actually tongue-tied…
But it’s TOTALLY ok to watch a documentary of indigenous tribal women running around topless and NO BLURRING of their breasts…
